Last week’s blog touched on social media websites, so you already know what such sites can do for your business. Let’s say you have decided to join Twitter in order to network among both your potential clients and your competitors. Now what? How best do you reach your intended audience, and what do you say to them when you do? Consider the following reasons to send a tweet from your company:
1. Tell the world about your new blog:
If you regularly update your site with blogs, you need to ensure people read them. Twitter can help you let people know you and your blog-filled website exist. You have 140 characters to work with on Twitter, so use them wisely. A simple short description of your blog along with a URL should suffice.
Here’s a tip: If your blog URL is too long to fit into the Twitter field, visit TinyURL.com to get a shortened address. This will allow you to add an interesting description to your tweet. For example, for this blog, you could write: “Lost in the world of Twitter while trying to promote your Arizona web design biz? Know what to tweet at (URL).”
2. Spread the news:
Whether your company has a fun event coming up or you just have a new press release on your site, you can tweet it. Just keep it short and sweet enough for people to click on it, and your tweet might be considered newsworthy enough for Internet readers to retweet it. Clearly, this will gain you more exposure.
3. Make a reminder:
If you have employees scattered across the globe and want to remind them about a meeting or deadline, a quick Twitter reminder could do the trick. Just remember that anyone can read these updates, whether they're following you or not, so keep it professional.
4. Get others excited about a new project:
Excitement can be infectious, so spread it to other members of Twitter with the click of a mouse. Whether you just landed a new gig or completed a long-lasting project, it’s okay to share your exhilaration with readers. Make sure to include a link to the project if it’s on your site, or perhaps to the company you will be working with.
5. Share industry news:
Even if you don’t have any business news, you can find a reason to tweet at least once per day. If you are serious about growing your business, you probably scour the Internet daily. Your search should lead you to blogs, news sources, and reviews of subjects dealing with your industry, whether it’s Arizona web design or juggling. If you are intrigued by what you find, chances are that someone else will be interested, too.
Just remember that the more helpful, unique links and updates you post, the more likely you will gain followers on Twitter. Ultimately, this means more exposure for your company, and who can afford to lose that opportunity?
